We have a spare room in this house which I will sometimes use to sleep in if I have to start work early. That way I do not disturb my wife as she sleeps.
After waking in the middle of the night a few nights ago I went into the spare room and continued sleeping till about 5am. After getting out of bed I straightened the Doona on the bed and flip the pillow.
To my shock under the pillow was a dead White Tailed Spider!! At first I saw SPIDER!! and thought it was a live one. I grabbed a tissue and grabbed the critter in a pincer movement to crush it in my fingers…but then realised it was already dead. Yet on the pillow was a stain from it’s juices the time it was squashed beneath my head. Must have a very heavy head hey?
At some point in the night I had tossed about and thumped my head down hard on that bamboo pillow and crushed the life juices out of that creepy dangerous arachnid.
A few days later–I woke at 5am and wandered into the spare room again to lie down for a few more hours to start work today at 9am(my hours change all the time).
I lay my head down in dim light of dawn coming through the curtains. But as soon as my head hit the pillow..a different pillow…I had a thought….yes you know the one?!
I raised myself up on one elbow and with my right hand I grabbed the corner of the pillow and lifted it up from the end….
IMMEDIATELY I SAW ANOTHER WHITE TAIL SCURRYING ALONG THE UNDERSIDE OF THE PILLOW!!!!
I tossed the pillow off the edge of the bed and quickly turned on the bedside lamp…
Could’nt see the varment anywhere. I jumped out of bed and pulled the ensemble queen size away from the wall on it’s castor wheels. There it was creeping along the join of the floor and wall towards a pile of washed laundry I had spilled there a few days ago.
I quickly moved around to that side of the bed to get him…but he beat me to the clothes. So I spent the next 5 minutes carefully shaking out each piece of clothing. Of course it fell out of the second last piece — a pair of underpants. Gotchya!! Squished him into the carpet!! CRUSHED!!! GONE!!! All my hairs standing on end at the crunchy victory sound!
Twice a poisonous White Tailed Spider hides under my head as I sleep.
Twice that messenger of death and necrosis is crushed –once by my head and next by my heel!
That episode directed me to the couch where I chose to sit with my coffee and take up the Bible and read Scripture INSTEAD of going straight to the PC and reading the daily propaganda.
I read the whole of Mark and felt a gentle surge of assurance and strength within. The God of Jesus Christ is well able to see us through even though there be many attempts upon our lives.
The God of Jesus Christ calms the storm and says to the raging waves BE STILL!! Jesus Christ walks upon the stormy waves —-waves and tumults are BENEATH HIS FEET!!
It seems we are alone in our boat–and our boat it just will not float!!
But the God of our SALVATION -JESUS OF NAZARETH- THE SON OF GOD–REBUKES THE WIND AND WAVES–REBUKES THE DEMONS -and they struggle and COME OUT–leaving us sitting at the FEET OF JESUS in adoration and PEACE–UTTER PEACE.
O GOD OF OUR SALVATION
WHO SHALL SOON CRUSH SATAN
BENEATH OUR FEET!!
You HAVE TRIUMPHED MIGHTILY
You have cast HORSE AND RIDER INTO THE SEA.
Our God is a mighty warrior…WHO NEVER SLEEPS….and though the enemy should devise evil plans and LIES OF THE SPIDER’S WEB ABOUT US..our GOD is not taken off guard or unaware.
Even as we sleep God is watching our back–destroying the plans of the EVIL ONE…CRUSHING THE LIFE out of that LIE and that sinister plot…
For why do the nations rage and people plot a vain thing against the Lord and His anointed–us–you!!?? Ps2
You shall lie down and your sleep shall be sweet.
For God shall soon crush Satan beneath your feet.
All of his kingdom is built on lies–The lies of the spiders web…
Just like the Serpent that slithers and hides….so the spider doth creep in the shadows of night.
AWAKE AWAKE and turn ON THE LIGHT!!
The one in the darkness can no longer HIDE….
This is the hour and this is the day that Satan shall have his head crushed
Beneath our heel.
