When your heart has a leaking valve so that it leaves you feeling exhausted after walking or even simply talking it’s not very encouraging. It is like digging a hole in dry sand…it keeps caving in.
Many people have this problem. They may have been born with it and not know. They just think they get tired easily. But the condition mainly effects people over 50 like me.
I need to have a heart valve replaced in a few months, something I am not really dealing with very well. I hate the idea of medication and will have to be on blood thinners for the rest of my life once the new valve goes in.
But as the blog title says: “With Christ”, I am not alone and in fact it is Jesus’ heart too. He carries me even as I carry him. If I am weak(and I always am)then He is sharing utterly with me my weaknesses, upholding me in them.
He does not take away my weaknesses, but promises to be the strength I need to endure through it…even if it is a lifelong thing.
I have seen others maimed by car wrecks and left severely injured, confined to a wheelchair, 24/7 care needed. And they believed in Jesus Christ, yet this terrible thing happened to them. I knew a sister in Christ who lived alone. A total stranger to her broke into her home to rob her, and he also violently raped her body. That sister was still believing in Jesus.
So my heart is leaking…big deal! Whatever our lot is in life, Jesus is with us to be all that we need. We cling to Him and find Him to be all in all.
The outer man- our body- is perishing; but the inner man- our spirit- is being renewed day by day.
2Co 4:16 Therefore we do not lose heart. Even though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day.
2Co 4:17 For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory,
2Co 4:18 while we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal.(age lasting)
There are it seems, certain afflictions that each of us have and will have while in these perishable bodies. Yet each affliction is met with the perfect strength and infilling of Jesus. Not only does he share the affliction because your body is His body…he lives in you , perfectly with you….but also He shares His strength derived from the Father Who dwells in Him so that Father is always all in all….in us.
Does all that theory help us in our struggles? Not if it remains a theory. It is happening in us whether we go along with it peaceably surrendered to it or whether we fight tooth and nail against it.
We may as well get with Jesus and enjoy the ride by beginning to speak this crazy faith we have inside.
Oooh I like that!! Should be a rapper or something.
Anyway…we go on. Life is not a charade, and not very nice sometimes…a lot of the times! But Jesus is committed to us. Not from the outside of us up in a heaven…but INSIDE our very being.
Col 3:3 For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.
Our inner man is being renewed by the inner life we share as one with Christ Jesus. That newness is fresh every morning. Speak it as you arise from bed. “I am new this morning. I am constantly being–(active present tense)renewed by Jesus in me”. Jesus in me every morning. Jesus is in me every day. Constantly in Jesus…Who is constantly in me.
